LOCUS performance
Time: Thurs 28 August 2025
Place: Vallisaari Island
LOCUS’s new commission for Helsinki Biennial 2025 Zostera Marina’s song of increase is dedicated to a species of seagrass native to the Baltic Sea: common eelgrass (Zostera Marina). The artists envisage a hopeful, speculative, utopian future for the common eelgrass.
The work includes two public performances on the first day of the biennial 8 June and the Baltic Sea Day, 28 August. LOCUS / Thale Blix Fastvold & Tanja Thorjussen will guide the audience to the pond, where their artwork is located. There they will perform an activation in dialogue with their art, as an invocation, and an honoring of Zostera Marina (common eelgrass).
- Duration approx. 30 min.
- Suitable for all audiences.
- Language: English
