Time: Fri 5 September from 13 to 15
Place: Katie Holten’s artwork site (number 28 on the map), Vallisaari Island

Forest as a teacher. A walk with Aino Mielikki Maa / Johansson.

Aino Mielikki Maa / Johansson will take the audience on a journey to connect with the shared planetary body in the framework of Katie Holten’s Forest School. On this journey we will experience the forest and the surrounding environment through ecosomatic exercises as well as diving into knowledge of forest ecology and species, and their situation here and now.

Aino works within the Forest movement Finland, that stands and acts for the protection of the last natural boreal forests in Finland and Sápmi. In the workshop we will get inspiration and tools for understanding and defending these forests.

Aino Mielikki Maa / Johansson is a multidisciplinary visual- and performing artist, a forest activist, curator and environmental educator, who is inspired by love, lichens, fairness (and fairies), interconnectedness and the indescribable. With their roots still deep in painting, she works mostly with performance and collective processes these days, and nerds enthusiastically on forest ecology and species.
