Helsinki Biennial arrives in Helsinki’s cultural centres! The programme of the Helsinki Biennial includes film screenings from HAM’s media art collection.

The screenings have been selected by Joasia Krysa, curator of the Biennial 2023 and coordinating curator Petronella Grönroos. The works are linked by the Biennial 2023 concepts of contamination, renewal and agency. The works reflect young people’s perceptions of the world and the fine line between fact and fiction, as well as consider what the future holds. The title of the 2023 Helsinki Biennial, New Directions May Emerge, refers to exploring ways of living in and understanding the world – and imagining other possible futures.

Before the screening, the staff of the Helsinki Biennial introduces the themes of the 2023 Biennial. This is followed by a film screening of around 45 minutes. The screenings, which are open to all, are free of charge and do not require registration in advance.
