Welcome to Helsinki Biennial 2023 in Vallisaari! Starting 15 May 2023, groups from schools in Helsinki can reserve seats on a waterbus to Vallisaari. Please note that the number of seats is limited and that the seats are sold in order of registration. Seats are available for reservation until the there are spaces left. You can still request places in August at incoming@frs-finland.fi.
The journey to Vallisaari from the Market Square takes about 20 minutes.

The circular Kalasatama-Vallisaari-Suomenlinna-Lonna route will operate during the biennial as well.
Reservations
Please reserve waterbus tickets for your group in advance by email to incoming@frs-finland.fi. In your email, mention that your group is going to Vallisaari. In response, every school will receive their individual user details and a link to the reservation system. Through the reservation system, you will reserve your tickets and submit your invoicing details.
NOTE. In the reservation system, choose the €6.5 discount ticket option for schools (koululaislippu). The reservation can be modified until a week before the journey. The group ticket will arrive in your email inbox. You can then print the ticket or show it on your mobile phone’s screen when boarding the waterbus.
Departure pier:
The waterbuses depart from the Lyypekinlaituri pier in the Market Square. In Vallisaari, the waterbus arrives at the Luotsipiha pier. This is a direct route without any stops on the way.
Return pier:
The waterbuses leave Vallisaari for their return journey from the Torpedolahti pier. The waterbuses return to the Lyypekinlaituri pier in the Market Square.
NOTE. Seats for the circular route from Kalasatama are also available. Please note that the number of seats on this route is significantly smaller than on the waterbus from the Lyypekinlaituri pier. The circular-route waterbus arrives at and departs from Luotsipiha in Vallisaari.

Duration of a one-way journey:
About 20 minutes. The groups must be at the departure pier 15 minutes before the departure time.
Fares:
A return ticket from the Market Square to Vallisaari and back for daycare centre groups and schools costs €6.5 per individual, except for accompanying adults for whom the journey is free of charge. The discount rate applies to pupils under 18 and to students aged 18 or over who have a student card or a certificate from an educational institution showing they are entitled to a student discount. For children under 7 years, the waterbus journey is free of charge, but a seat reservation is required. An invoicing charge of €11 and a group reservation charge of €11 will be added.
Reservation period:
Please reserve waterbus tickets for your group in advance on a waterbus operating a regular service. The tickets are available for reservation between 15 May and 11 June until the waterbuses are fully booked. Reserve seats on the waterbus for your group in advance. When you make a reservation, you are making the reservation for both the outward and return journeys.
Invoicing:
Waterbus tickets are reserved by email to incoming@frs-finland.fi. In your email, mention that your group is going to Vallisaari. In response, every school will receive their individual user details and a link to the reservation system. The ticket reservations and invoicing details are submitted through the reservation system. Once you have received confirmation of your reservation, please send the waterbus operator a BOSTI purchase order for the reservation’s total amount.
Cancellations:
In the event of an obstacle, please cancel your reservation in the reservation system a week before you are due to travel at the latest.
Information on the waterbuses:
There is a ramp for accessing the waterbuses (e.g. for wheelchairs and prams), but the waterbuses are not accessible. There is a toilet on the waterbuses, but it is not accessible. The waterbuses can hold 100–150 passengers.
