Sasha Huber and Petri Saarikko

Sasha Huber (b. 1975) is a visual artist with Swiss-Haitian heritage, and Petri Saarikko (b. 1973) is a Finnish visual artist. In addition to their respective artistic careers, they also work together in a creative partnership in Helsinki. Since 2011 they have been working together on their long-term project Remedies Universe, which began with them exploring and exchanging their own oral family knowledge and then expanding to different geographical and cultural contexts.

Their work has thus far assumed the form of performances, exhibitions, film, publications and public art.

For Helsinki Biennial 2023, the duo will create a new site-specific installation marking the continuation of their Remedies Universe project.

They began with performances, videos and publications titled Huskurer Remedies (2010-11) in Sweden, and continued with further versions in Aotearoa NZ, twice in Australia, Haiti, Germany, Latvia, USA and Finland.

Different iterations of the Remedies Universe have been shown at venues including the Oberhausen Film Festival (2017) and the 1st Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art – RIBOCA (2018)
