Helsinki Biennial’s guided tours for groups are now available for booking! Book a guided tour to make your Biennial visit more enjoyable and to learn more about the artworks. Our guides are art professionals who know the answers to your questions and lead you on your Vallisaari Island adventure.

Guided tours for groups

Would you like to provide your group with a unique experience of international contemporary art by the sea on Vallisaari Island? Book a guided tour of Helsinki Biennial! Guided tours are available in Finnish, Swedish, and English. The maximum group size is 25 persons per guide. Please book the guided tours via a booking form. Helsinki Biennial

Hear the most interesting stories about the artworks featured in Helsinki Biennial and learn more about the artists behind the works. On this tour, you will experience the spectacular sea views and versatile nature of Vallisaari. We will walk the 3-kilometre-long Alexander’s tour and stop to look at the artworks along the way. The focus is on artworks located outdoors.

The tour starts at the Luotsipiha entry pier in front of the Pilots’ House and ends in Alexander Battery.

Selected works from Helsinki Biennial

On this guided tour, you will hear the most interesting stories behind the artworks located in the surroundings of Vallisaari Island’s village road. The tour is well suited for groups who want to focus on a couple of artworks and walk a shorter tour of the island. The tour is approximately 1.5 kilometres long, with a main focus on artworks located outdoors.

The tour starts at the Luotsipiha entry pier in front of the Pilots’ House and ends near Torpedonlahti where the boats depart from.

Public tours

Public tours of Helsinki Biennial will be organised on Saturdays at 12:00 from 1 July to 26 August in Finnish. We will walk the 3-kilometre-long Alexander’s tour and stop to look at the artworks along the way.

The tour starts at the Luotsipiha entry pier by the information desk located in front of the Pilots’ House. The tour ends in Alexander Battery. Please note that the terrain is rough and hilly in places.

Public tours must be booked and paid online in advance. If places are still available, tickets will be sold on the spot on the same day.

Helsinki Biennial at HAM

In 2023, Helsinki Biennial will expand from Vallisaari to HAM Helsinki Art Museum and various public spaces around the city. The Helsinki Biennial exhibition will be on display at HAM’s top floor until 22 October 2023. You can book a workshop or a guided tour for a group.

HAM Helsinki Art Museum’s Helsinki Biennial guided tour

At HAM’s Helsinki Biennial tour, you will explore artworks on display at HAM and hear more about the artists and the artworks’ themes related to the sea.
The tour will be organised at HAM Helsinki Art Museum, Eteläinen Rautatiekatu 8.

Workshops at HAM

Are you planning to visit HAM with friends, colleagues, family, or neighbours? Would you like to familiarise yourself with the exhibition themes by creating something yourself? Helsinki Biennial’s workshops provide fun and engaging activities for various groups. The workshops are held at the HAM Workshop at Tennis Palace.
The workshops are organised within the museum’s opening hours.

Microscopic views with plant-based paints

In this workshop, we will explore microscopic views and paint them with ink pencils and plant-based paints.
This workshop is suitable for all, including special groups. Exhibition visit is included in the price.
