Matias Karsikas (b. 1989) is a Finnish sculptor working with glass and ceramics.
His practice is based on his own highly developed methods, which are often time-consuming and technically challenging. Nature is a recurring theme in the artist’s practice, symbolizing the struggle of life and survival. While viewers may perceive poetic elements that evoke the natural world, Karsikas approaches this subject as something far deeper and more complex. The works explore the resilience of nature and its capacity to endure within environments transformed by human activity.
